Resilience in the restaurant market comes with being creative with menus while maintaining a certain level of food familiarity. And this is evident in Cinnamon Lounge located in Isleworth in west London.
The Chef-Patron Shameem Ahmed who has trained with India’s renowned Oberoi Hotel Group has been armed with unusual dishes as well as firm Indian favourites.
His love of Chinese flavours is pretty much indisputable with dishes such as Chicken Mongolian – a crispy concoction of fenugreek, pepper that has a nutty and crunchy texture.
Explore the main dishes and there are also simple up front Indian delicacies such as Mahi Fish Tikka; cod marinated in turmeric. Plus, Dum ka Murgh – a Moghul influenced chicken dish in a rich sauce of almonds and cashew nuts which is not too chilli hot.
The Gongura Mamsam Lamb is cooked with green Gongura leaves that impart a piquant sour note to dishes. This leaf is synonymous with Hyderabadi cuisine from Andhra Pradesh in South India where the chef gets his inspiration from. The region is also known for its lavish biryanis and Chef-Patrron Shameem ensures that his signature Hyderabadi Dum Biryani is on the extremely popular and reasonably priced Sunday Buffet containing over twenty dishes.
The Murgh Kali Mirch packs a mind-blowing peppery punch and compliments a simple buttery naan or roti. The staff are extremely friendly and accessible to advise you on any dishes that you may be unfamiliar with. However, Cinnamon Lounge does have a massive fan base of regular customers who love to come to eat traditional dishes such as Saag Aloo which are potatoes cooked with a spinach puree, flavoured with garlic and ginger as well as the Chicken Tikka marinated in warming spices and grilled in a clay oven.
Cinnamon Lounge is celebrating its tenth year with a revamp of its menu comprising of a mix of unpretentious food that has no heirs and graces and new fusion dishes which have already received the thumbs-up from the rugby crowd, its local clientele and beyond.
Cinnamon Lounge is at 81 Twickenham Road, Isleworth, Middlesex TW7 6AB.
